Privacy policy
That's Ducked Up is built so public discovery stays open while chapter activity and personal planning stay private.
What we collect
- Public browsing: saved events, saved Marketplace listings, the welcome guide, Easter-egg progress, your optional Rig Passport, and personal ride drafts stay in local storage on your browser or device. A Rig Passport can include Jeep model, generation, year, trim, tires, lift, equipment, and driver experience; it does not include a VIN, plate, owner identity, or exact location.
- Location: if you choose “Use my location,”Exact GPS stays in memory on this device. For website event searches, only coordinates rounded to two decimals (about 1 km) reach our server. Search centers are not saved in the app database or shared with chapters. Clear your area or reload to discard it. Rounded requests may appear in hosting logs; rounding is not anonymity. The iPhone app sorts its public catalog on-device without sending GPS to the event endpoint. For roof-weather guidance, coordinates are rounded to two decimal places before they are sent to Open-Meteo. Location is not added to a profile or shared with chapters or Marketplace sellers. Permission is not requested automatically on first launch; it is requested only after you select a location-based action. If you previously granted permission, the app may refresh your area without showing another permission prompt.
- Travel Mode: the destination text you enter is sent to our read-only destination-search endpoint, which forwards it to Open-Meteo's geocoding service to resolve a city or destination into coordinates. The chosen coordinates are used to recenter event discovery for the session. A broad city, state, region, or public trailhead entered when publishing a community event or Marketplace listing is also sent to Open-Meteo geocoding so the server can validate and store only a regional coordinate.
- Camera and photos: Wrangler identification uses a photo you capture or select. The image is processed on your device and is not uploaded or retained by us.
- Private chapters on the website: after sign-in, we store your email and display name, memberships, invitations, posts, event details, RSVP choices, and photos you choose to upload. RSVP display names and choices are visible to active chapter members, never in public event summaries. Downloaded calendar invites contain private meeting details and are stored by your chosen calendar provider; share them only with your chapter. Private content is checked against active membership before it is served.
- Shared Ride Command on the website: a chapter ride can store its event, exact staging point, route and stops, vehicle requirements, leader and tail-gunner names, communications channel, weather and safety notes, attendee cap, and attending members' display names. These details are tied to an invite-only chapter and are returned only after an active membership check. They are separate from personal ride drafts saved on a device.
- Marketplace beta on the website: listing title, description, category, price, broad city/state, Jeep fitment, and seller display name may be public. Seller email is used for ownership checks but is not returned in public listing data. We also store reports and account-level seller blocks for safety. Signed-in buyers and sellers can exchange private Marketplace messages; participant account IDs, display names, message content, and timestamps are stored and returned only to the two participants. Email addresses are not disclosed through messaging. Phone numbers, public email addresses, exact street addresses, plates, VINs, outside links, payments, and live locations are not part of listings.
- Virtual ducking on the website: if you opt in, we store Jeep nickname, generation, color, optional plate region, and a server-keyed fingerprint derived from plate text processed on your device. Raw plate text and camera photos are not stored.
How we use information
We use information only to provide event and weather discovery, destination geocoding, Trail Match, private group access, invitations, shared chapter ride coordination, Marketplace listing ownership, private buyer-seller messaging and safety controls, photo sharing, and safety-controlled virtual ducking. We do not sell personal information, run targeted advertising.
TestFlight test ads
TestFlight builds display Google AdMob test banners. Google may process network and device information, ad interactions, and diagnostics to deliver these ads. Ad personalization is disabled. We do not send your app content, saved records, searches, preferences, or location selections to AdMob. The core tools remain usable when ads cannot load. See Google’s privacy policy.
Sharing and retention
Open events and Marketplace listings show only a broad public area. Exact private meetup details, Ride Command sheets and rosters, member lists, posts, and photos are available only to active website group members. Marketplace messages are available only to the participating buyer and seller. Weather and Travel Mode requests are provided by Open-Meteo. Official event and Jeep news links open the cited organizer, Jeep, or Stellantis source. Data is kept while your account or chapter needs it and can be deleted from website Account controls.
Open-Meteo states that its free API may retain web-server logs, including IP addresses, geographic coordinates, and request URLs used for weather or destination search, for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Review the current Open-Meteo terms before choosing location or Travel Mode.
Standard request logs can include an IP address, device or browser details, the requested endpoint, and diagnostic timing or error data. We treat those logs as linked device and diagnostic data for this disclosure, use them only to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the requested feature, and do not use them for advertising or tracking. Service providers receive only the information needed for that request and must protect it under their terms and applicable law.
iPhone advertising and ad-free purchases
iPhone versions offering advertising use Google AdMob banners on the public Events catalog. Ads are not shown in saved plans, private content, forms, or camera tools. We request non-personalized ads with restricted data processing, disable publisher first-party identifiers, and do not request permission to track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not send GPS coordinates, photos, travel searches, or saved plans to Google for ads.
When advertising is enabled, Google may process your IP address (which can indicate a general area), device identifiers, ad interactions, diagnostic, crash and performance information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Non-personalized ads still involve this processing. Google's consent form appears where required before ad requests. Where applicable, use Me → Advertising privacy choices to change or withdraw your choices. Review Google's advertising privacy information and Google's privacy policy for its retention and data controls.
Remove Ads is an optional one-time Apple in-app purchase, not a subscription. The purchase screen shows the price in your App Store currency. Apple processes payment; we do not receive your card details. Verified purchase records determine ad-free access and support Restore Purchases. Existing paid-app customers retain ad-free access at no additional charge. Ads stay off while original ownership cannot be verified. Ad-free access prevents ad requests and initialization of the advertising SDK; existing regional privacy choices remain available when required. The website does not use AdMob.
Your controls
You can deny location or camera access, turn Travel Mode off, use Clear local app data in My Space, edit or unlock a personal ride draft, join or leave an eligible locked chapter ride, report a listing, privately message or block a Marketplace seller, pause vehicle matching, or permanently delete a website account and its associated content. On iPhone, you can also revoke permissions in Settings or remove the app to erase its local container.
